I really love the opt-out system and the mods choosing the monster, but I was wondering if a system where the player has to choose between two chosen monsters might be better? The "this is it" end-all verdict is kind of intimidating...I mean, I don't want "here, have eight choices!" but having a final say as a player would be pretty great, I think.
One of the things about the game that I find appealing is the mod choosing. If this is implemented, maybe it could be a last resort thing if people aren't happy with their monster? I don't know, but I personally like the lack of freedom on our part.
I'm seconding the anon above me, but I want to add my own point about why I think it's a little better to have the mods choose it. Take Eachdraich where you could choose between two things your character could be and the only times the mods stepped in is if you choose the exact opposite of your character. At least when they first opened one of the choices had substantially characters in it than the other choice. To be honest, I worry about vampires or werewolves (or anyone but I think those might be the most desired) getting the most if people have the final say out of two and it's a choice between one of those two and another creature.
DA, but I'm worried about the exact opposite. I'm worried that even with my opt-outs (which are mostly 4 things with traits I'm just not interested in playing), I'll end up with something a little less exciting like Vampire and Werewolf instead of something extreme.
I've discussed the choice system fairly extensively on rpanons and the system in place right now has been by far the most popular. I know not everyone will like it, but there are quite a few people looking forward to it too, so unfortunately the opt-out system will be staying as is.
